11 August, 2024
The latest car brand to touch down on New Zealand shores has the media buzzing about it’s innovative technology, value-for-money and robust warranty coverage. With the Jaecoo J7 EX available in Front Wheel Drive and the J7 EX+ as All Wheel Drive, the mid-sized SUV has you covered if you’re looking for something stylish to run around town in, or even to adventure off the beaten track!
OMODA JAECOO New Zealand sent a Jaecoo J7 out to a range of media outlets, so they can let us know their thoughts on the new-comer to the market.
2024 Jaecoo J7 EX review – New Zealand AutoCar Magazine
“Under the EX hood is a 1.6L turbo petrol that drives the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) include AEB that detects vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, adaptive cruise with lane keeping and traffic jam assist, forward collision warning, and traffic sign recognition.”
“On the go, this is quite feisty as you might expect of a 1.6T, beavering away nicely at low revs so it feels easygoing in day to day running. Select Sport and it’s even more responsive but we doubt many will find it necessary.”
Road test: Is this the best bang-for-buck SUV you can buy? – Stuff Motoring NZ
“Its real rivals are most likely smaller SUVs like the Hyundai Kona, Toyota C-HR, and Nissan Qashqai. The theory there being, why buy a small crossover like one of these when you can have a bonafide, fully loaded mid-size SUV like the J7 for the same money, or cheaper?”
“Regardless of how you feel about the Jaecoo’s design inspo, you have to concede that the build quality inside is excellent. Its materials feel plush and premium, the dashboard is littered with soft-touch surfaces, and the seats are comfortable. There are a few choice bits of design flair — like the cross-hatched textured soft panel that goes across the dash and the piano-key graphic in the trim underneath — and it’s all nailed together nicely.”
A Cool Hunter Gatherer – Jaecoo J7 review – Tarmac Life NZ
“The upmarket appearance continues inside with the Jaecoo J7 revealing a world of refined comfort and cutting-edge technology, plus a hint of utilitarianism. Leather-style seats, coupled with ample adjustment capabilities, ensure a truly personalised driving experience, while the seamless integration of wireless charging (with a battery cooler), an advanced infotainment system, drinks cooler and intuitive controls shows a brand that’s not just segment competing, but out to excel.”
“Overall, the J7 excels at providing a comfortable and controlled ride. The seamless transition between drive modes, combined with adaptive safety systems, ensures a confident and engaging driving experience for occupants. And then there’s the price. The J7 EX 2WD has a launch price of $37,990+ORC!!!”
