Nissan Celebrates 1.5 Million e-POWER Vehicles Produced Globally
Nissan has reached a significant milestone in electric vehicle technology, announcing that global production of its revolutionary e-POWER vehicles has surpassed 1.5 million units by the end of October 2024. With a presence in 68 markets worldwide, e-POWER technology combines a small gasoline engine and a lithium-ion battery to drive an electric motor that powers the wheels directly. This design offers a unique electric vehicle experience featuring smooth, powerful acceleration and a quiet ride.
First introduced in Japan in 2016 with the Note e-POWER, this innovative technology quickly expanded to the Kicks, X-Trail, and Serena models. In 2023, e-POWER vehicles made up 42.6% of Nissan’s sales in Japan. After launching the Sylphy e-POWER in China in 2021, Nissan added the X-Trail SUV to its e-POWER lineup there. In Europe, e-POWER models of the X-Trail and Qashqai SUVs have sold over 100,000 units since their 2022 debut.
In New Zealand, e-POWER is available in the Qashqai and X-Trail models, making them some of Nissan‘s best selling SUVs.
Nissan’s next plans for e-POWER is to launch in the U.S. and Canadian markets by the end of fiscal year 2026, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient mobility solutions.
