Nissan's Exciting New Strategy: Introducing the Advanced Nissan Leaf and Navara

28 March, 2025

Nissan is embarking on an ambitious new strategy, aiming to redefine its position in the global automotive market with the introduction of the next-generation Nissan Leaf and an updated Navara. This strategy underscores Nissan’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. Nissan confirmed that they plan to launch 13 all-new or facelifted models over the next two years.

“Through powertrain diversification and new models, we will provide a broader range of options that cater to diverse customer preferences, further distinguishing Nissan and Infiniti brands,” said Nissan chief performance officer Guillaume Cartier.

“We are committed to investing in products that embody the very best of Nissan. To our passionate fans and loyal owners around the world, I can assure you, this is just the beginning of an exciting journey ahead,” added Nissan chief planning officer Ivan Espinosa.

The Leaf Redefined

The Nissan Leaf, set to be reimagined as a ‘mini-Ariya’ small SUV, represents a significant leap forward in Nissan’s electric vehicle lineup. This new model will transition from its traditional hatchback form to a more stylish, coupe-styled SUV, which is expected to cater to a broader audience seeking eco-friendly and versatile vehicles. The design inspiration for the new Leaf borrows heavily from Nissan’s successful Ariya, featuring sleek lines and advanced technology, making it a standout choice for urban commuters.

The Next Level Navara

On the other hand, the Nissan Navara is set to undergo substantial enhancements to solidify its place as a leader in the pickup segment. The upcoming Navara will build on its robust and reliable reputation with significant improvements in performance, comfort, and technology. Expected features include a more powerful engine option, enhanced towing capabilities, and a state-of-the-art interior that offers both luxury and practicality. Furthermore, Nissan is exploring the integration of E-Power hybrid technology, aiming to combine fuel efficiency with the power needed for heavy-duty tasks. New Zealand can expect to see the new Nissan Navara in early 2026.

More to Come

Nissan has also announced that a new electric SUV will be coming next year, along with a new QASHQAI model that features a new e-POWER system that will be more powerful and efficient. The next generation Patrol will also hit our shores in 2026.*
